The American Institute for Yemeni Studies (AIYS) is a U.S. registered 501(c)3 non-profit, academic organization with funding from The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. They hold two annual competitions for fellowships for graduate students and postgraduate students, supporting research on Yemen. With funding opportunities for U.S. citizens, limited to countries other than Yemen, and one for citizens of the Republic of Yemen. Both are funded by grants from The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
