The Chronic, Non-Communicable Diseases and Disorders Across the Lifespan: Fogarty International Research Training Award (NCD-LIFESPAN) (D43 Clinical Trial Optional) funding program from the Fogarty International Center of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supports institutional research training programs in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs, as defined by the World Bank classification system).


Applications may be for collaborations between institutions in the U.S and an eligible LMIC or may involve just LMIC institutions if there is a previous track record of externally funded research and/or research training programs by the lead LMIC institution. LMIC PD/PIs who are not LMIC citizens, must be designated by the eligible LMIC as a permanent resident (or equivalent status in the LMIC in question, to be verified by the applicant institution). Income categories are defined by the World Bank. Funding of up to 230,000 USD/year in direct costs is available for up to 5 years.
