The EASD Rising Star Symposium and EFSD Rising Star Fellowship Program are funded by the European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes (EFSD) together with Novo Nordisk. The program supports young researchers who are developing their innovative research activities at non-profit institutions in Europe and Associated Countries. The selected applicants will have the opportunity to present their research in a research symposium at EASD annual meeting. Registration costs, travel and hotel expenses of the selected candidates will be covered.
This program also includes a fellowship of 30,000 EUR. Applicants must be paid-up members of EASD with their highest degree (PhD, MD, DMD, DVM, or equivalent) received no more than five (basic scientist) or seven years (clinician) before January 1 in the year the Fellowship is awarded. For clinicians holding more than one qualifying degree (e.g. MD PhD) or with a clinical specialist degree/board certification, the time since the first degree may not exceed ten years before January 1 in the year the Fellowship is awarded. For this award, applicants are allowed to hold a second active award from EFSD.
Preference will be given to individuals who have publications in high impact peer-reviewed journals.
