JSPS Fellowship 2023 (Australian postdocs in Japan)

The JSPS Fellowship 2023 is supported by the Australian Academy of Science together with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) to facilitate Australian postdoctoral researchers to continue their training with leading researchers in Japan. Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents, and must be living in Australia or Japan at the time of application. Applicants who are Australian permanent residents need to be citizens of countries that have diplomatic relations with Japan. Applicants must have completed their PhD on or after April 2, 2017 and have a host researcher in Japan who will serve as mentor for the duration of the fellowship. Applicants with PhD from the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Physical sciences
  • Earth and environmental sciences
  • Materials engineering
  • Biology (including synthetic biology and biotech)
  • Clinical medicine
  • Industrial biotechnology
  • Environmental biotechnology
  • Basic medical research
  • Electrical engineering

The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of 362,000 JPY + additional benefits including relocation allowance and travel insurance for up to 2 years. Applications close on December 12, 2022.
