The Leverhulme International Professorships from the Leverhulme Trust provide funding for international recruitment at the professorial level by UK research institutions. Each UK university is eligible to apply for 1 candidate per year, and the candidate is expected to be an internationally renowned researcher in their discipline conducting innovative and impactful research. While most disciplines are eligible, the following areas are not funded due to the wide availability of alternative sources of funding: biomedical research for human or animal diseases, research with clinical applications, policy research, and research with direct commercial applicability. The Professorship grant provides up to 5 million GBP over a period of 5 years (no indirect costs). The 2023 call will be the final round of applications for this program.
