The Patricia Swannell Dormancy and Late Recurrence Research Funding Programme from Breast Cancer Now aims to support research addressing dormancy and late recurrence of breast cancer.

The grant supports projects focusing on understanding dormancy and late recurrence of breast cancer, with a goal to develop better testing, diagnosis, and treatment. Projects may include, but are not limited to:

  • Improving research models to understand dormancy and recurrence
  • Investigating the role of the microenvironment in maintaining or triggering escape from dormancy
  • Studying genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying recurrence
  • Identifying biomarkers of dormancy and late recurrence

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Lead applicants and PhD studentships must be based at recognized institutions in the UK or Ireland.
  • Lead applicants should have employment or honorary contracts extending beyond the grant period.
  • Applicants may be new to breast cancer research but must include relevant expertise in the proposed team.
  • Collaborative applications are encouraged.

Grants are available up to a maximum value of 500,000 GBP for up to 60 months. Applications are due on June 4, 2024.
