The Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and The National Research Council Canada (NRC) support Strategic International Collaborative Research Program (SICORP) to promote international research interaction and exchange among researchers in Japan and Canada. Proposals are accepted for Japanese-Canadian collaborative research projects under the theme of “AI-based solutions for well-being, better living environments, and social connection for aging populations”.
Projects applying for SICORP must be focused on the development of pre-commercial technologies that address an identified need in the area of utilizing AI-based solutions to improve well-being, living environments, and social connection, in particular in the context of an aging population.
Requirements for the participants:
The project consortium must include a minimum of 5 participants
• Among the 2 Japanese participants, at least one should be working in a university or research institution and at least one should belong to a company.
• Among the 3 Canadian participants, at least one should be from a university or research institution, at least one should be incorporated from a Canadian small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) and at least one researcher should belong to NRC.
The support will be provided for a period of 3 years. Approximately 58,500,000 JPY including direct and indirect costs will be funded.

International Consortium Project Proposal deadline: April 3, 2023. The application deadline closes on April 3, 2023, at 17:00 (Japan standard time).
