The Sustainable fisheries from healthy seas funding program from NordForsk supports collaborative research projects between the Nordic and the Baltic countries on the topic of sustainable fisheries in the context of climate change and the green transition. The funding call focuses on the following themes and perspectives:

  • Theme 1: Assessment and mitigation of the impacts of fisheries on the marine environment
  • Theme 2: Evaluation of the effects and feasibility of time-area closures as a fisheries management tool
  • Perspective 1: Climate change
  • Perspective 2: Ecosystem services

Applications are open to researchers in the Nordics plus Lithuania and Estonia. Nordic countries are defined here as Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland Islands.

Applicants may apply for up to 8 million NOK for up to 4 years (including indirect costs).

Applications close on May 28, 2024.
