The European Research Council (ERC) was established by the European Union in 2007. European Research Council functions with the mission of supporting the highest quality research in Europe through competitive funding and advancing investigator-driven frontier research across all fields, based on scientific excellence. ERC is a European funding organization that supports researchers for their excellent research. The organization funds researchers of any nationality and age who are based across Europe across all career stages for their project.

Open Access Policy: The ERC requires that all ERC-funded research results be made freely available immediately upon publication. Applicants should include open access article processing charges (APCs) in ERC grant applications. Note that fees for publications in hybrid or subscription journals are not eligible for reimbursement from ERC grants.
