The Hjelt Foundations houses three different foundations namely Bo and Kerstin Hjelt Diabetes Foundation, Spina Bifida Foundation and Art Foundation.
Bo and Kerstin Hjelt Diabetes Foundation, established in 2008, funds research focusing on type 2 diabetes prevention and cure. The Foundation supports diabetes research in Lund University, Sweden and Geneva University, Switzerland. Young scientists with a PhD or MD degree having more than three years after the doctoral degree but not having permanent positions are given preferences for the grants funded by the foundation.
The Spina Bifida Foundation focuses on supporting Ph.D students working in the field of Spina Bifida.
