National Science Foundation (NSF)

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent US federal agency and is the provider of some 25% of all federally funded basic research grants. In many disciplines, such as mathematics, computer science and the social sciences, the NSF is the major source of federal funding. The NSF funds mostly US researchers and US-based projects, however, some awards are open to applicants worldwide.
