Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) is a statutory body, established in 2000, that support scientists and engineers working in the fields of science and engineering that underpin biotechnology, information and communications technology and sustainable energy and energy-efficient technologies. Science Foundation Ireland supports impactful research and works towards engagement and collaboration. The foundation funds research grants and awards mostly for Ireland-based researchers and also have few mobility programs for international researchers.
Open Access Policy: SFI is a member of cOAlition S, and peer-reviewed journal publications stemming from SFI-funded research must be published with immediate open access and under a Creative Commons attribution licence (CC-BY) with Rights Retention wording. Grantees may use existing SFI grant funds as a contribution towards costs to publish open access.
