The AACAP Leatherman-Drell-Ritvo Fund Grant Award, offered by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), supports project proposals aimed to maintain and enhance psychodynamic understanding and psychodynamically-informed therapies in child and adolescent psychiatry. Eligible applicants must be either AACAP members or have a pending membership application, or they can represent an AACAP Committee with a confirmed ability to undertake the proposed project.

Innovative and imaginative strategies to overcome the hurdles in promoting and advancing psychodynamic child and adolescent psychiatry are encouraged. Grant proposals may tackle various aspects such as training and education, research, clinical practice, or community development. Examples encompass but are not confined to:

  • Educational initiatives spanning from pre-graduate (medical school, residency, or fellowship) to post-graduate levels (e.g., lifelong learning)
  • Development of curricula
  • Advancement of faculty skills
  • Provision of resources for training programs
  • Training for supervisors
  • Collaboration with other child mental health professional bodies
  • Undertaking new clinical or educational research endeavors

The grant offers a maximum of 4,000 USD. Applications must be submitted by April 19, 2024.
