The Fellowship Program from the Partnership for Clean Competition (PCC) supports early-career qualified scientists who have completed a PhD program and who demonstrate strong interest and potential for long-term contribution to the fields of anti-doping science. The PCC provides two Fellowship Tracks for young PhD researchers:

  1. The Laboratory Track
  2. The Research Track

Candidates must have a PhD in a physical, biological/medical science, or pharmacology disciplines.

worldwide working on anti-doping research. Current research priorities of the program are:

  • Developing methods of cost-effective testing to detect and deter the use of banned and illegal substances.
  • Developing testing protocols to detect designer substances used for doping purposes.
  • Improving existing analytical methods to detect particular drugs, ex. GH, IGF-1, EPO, hCG.
  • Developing analytical methods to detect performance enhancing drugs not currently detectable.
  • Longitudinal urinary excretion patterns, metabolism and dose-concentration.
  • Critical reviews to support interpretation of laboratory data.
  • Alternative specimens, (ex. oral fluid, dried blood/plasma spots) for testing.

The fellowship includes a maximum of 150,000 USD over 2 years, including:

  • fellow stipend at 60,000 USD/year
  • equipment and supplies at 10,000 USD/year
  • travel and conference attendance at 5,000 USD/year

The fellow’s host institution will still be eligible to apply for other research project funds from the PCC. Letters of intent are due: February 1 and August 1. Full applications are due 30 days after the letters of intent, i.e. March 1 and September 1.

The next letters of intent are due on August 1, 2024 and full applications are due on September 1, 2024.
