The Clinician Scientist Fellowship funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC) supports healthcare professionals to become independent researchers. The supported work must be conducted in the UK and applicants must:
- be a registered healthcare professional
- have a PhD or equivalent
- show evidence of career progression
- show clear plans for developing as a leader in a specialist area of research
Applicants must have a PhD by the start of the fellowship and have the support of a research organization eligible for MRC funding. Non-UK recipients of the award are eligible for a Global Talent visa. The Fellowship provides funding for salary and project costs for up to 5 years, and covers up to 80% of the full economic costs of the research.
