The Data Discovery Awards from the MS Society supports research projects designed to increase our understanding of MS risk factors. Applicants must be based in UK university or NHS institution (fixed-term or tenure) and be the Principal Investigator of the project. Up to 50,000 GBP for up to 12 months will be provided. The proposed project must use data from the UK MS Register, either alone or with other existing datasets. The aim of the project should be one of the following: 

  • Uncover new risk factors for developing MS, with a particular emphasis on modifiable risk factors (towards primary prevention) 

  • Further characterise known MS risk factors in a way that will take us towards preventative strategies 
  • Increase our understanding of modifiable risk factors and comorbidities that influence MS progression (towards secondary prevention) 

Lay summary development is due on February 28, 2023 and invited full applications are due on April 26, 2023.
