Ernest Rutherford Fellowship (UK astronomy, physics)

The Ernest Rutherford Fellowship from the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) supports outstanding early-career researchers in the United Kingdom to conduct independent research in the areas of:

  • astronomy
  • solar and planetary science
  • particle physics
  • particle astrophysics
  • cosmology
  • nuclear physics
  • accelerator physics

Applicants must be hosted and supported by an eligible UK research organisation. Applicants must be early-career researchers and not hold a permanent position. All successful applicants who require a visa to work in the UK will be eligible for the Global Talent Visa. The Fellowship spans 5 years and provides 80% of research funding and the host research institution must provide the remainder of the required funds. Applications open on July 1, 2022 and close on September 13, 2022.
