The Ernest Rutherford Fellowship from the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) supports outstanding early-career researchers in the United Kingdom to conduct independent research in the areas of:
- solar and planetary science
- particle physics
- particle astrophysics
- nuclear physics
- accelerator physics
- research that seeks to transfer the skills, techniques and technologies developed within the core areas (as above) into other areas
Applicants must be hosted and supported by an eligible UK research organisation. Applicants must be early-career researchers and not hold permanent positions. All successful applicants who require a visa to work in the UK will be eligible for the Global Talent Visa. The Fellowship spans 5 years and provides 80% of research funding and the host research institution must provide the remainder of the required funds.
