The Global Funding for Rubber Innovation (GFRI) programme from the Malaysian Rubber Council (MRC) was officially launched in June 2022 for the purpose to bolster the development of the rubber industry in through research and development (R&D). With the tagline “Nurturing Ideas for Rubber Industry Globally”, GFRI aims to encourage the generation of ideas, innovations and inventions for rubber products and technologies with good commercial viability to attract investment in high-value products and technologies works within the rubber industry. The application is open to all local and overseas researchers from universities, research institutions, other institutes of higher learning and companies based in Malaysia and overseas. Priority is given to research proposals that are between TRL3 – TRL 7 and projects that are ready for commercialization. The award provides 400,000 MYR for Malaysia-based researchers and 150,000 USD for researchers outside of Malaysia.

Applications can be submitted throughout the year.
