The Graduate Student Awards in Asthma, offered by the Canadian Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Foundation (CAAIF), Asthma Canada, and CIHR-Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health (CIHR-ICRH), aim to support the training, education, and professional development of graduate students. These awards are designed to advance understanding of the causes, mechanisms, and treatment options for asthma, ultimately working towards finding a cure.

Eligibility criteria require research projects to contribute to a better understanding of the causes, mechanisms, and/or treatment of either early-onset asthma (18 years or younger) or late-onset asthma (over 18 years). Applicants must be full-time graduate students pursuing an PhD in Canada at the time of grant award. Additionally, the research must be conducted at a Canadian university or research institute recognized as an eligible institution by CIHR.

Previous award recipients are permitted to reapply for a second year of funding, although preference will be given to new applicants.

Each award provides recipients with 30,000 CAD. The deadline for applications is May 6, 2024.

Full application due:
May 6, 2024
