International Clinical Fellowship in Thoracic Surgery (North America | France)

The International Clinical Fellowship in Thoracic Surgery, provided by the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS), supports cardiothoracic surgery residents. If a one-year fellowship is completed, the first six months will be research-focused, followed by a full-immersion clinical fellowship for the remaining six months.

The selected fellow will have complete clinical access to operate during the program and will fully immerse themselves in the thoracic surgical department of Marie Lannelongue Hospital.

To be eligible for this award, applicants must:

  • be thoracic surgery residents in the chief/penultimate year of their training based in North America.
  • be proficient in English (Knowledge of conversational French is preferred but not required).
  • meet all necessary licensure, visa, and credentialing criteria required by the host center.

The fellowship provides:

  • 50,000 EUR for one year, including taxes and health insurance.
  • lodging in France provided by the institution for the fellowship’s duration, either through direct funding or by securing a hospital-funded apartment for the fellow (equivalent to 20,000 EUR).
  • expenses to attend the AATS Annual Meeting and International Thoracic Surgical Oncology Summit (ITSOS), including travel, lodging, and registration fees.

The application window opens on April 1, 2024. Applications close on July 1, 2024.
