The Rhodes Scholarships for Jamaica

The Rhodes Scholarship is a fully funded, full-time, postgraduate award that enables talented young people from around the world to study at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. The Rhodes Scholarships for Jamaica offers one scholarship each year.

Applicant must:

i. be a citizen of Jamaica; OR
ii. parents who must have been domiciled and resident in Jamaica for at least five years immediately preceding 1st January in the year of your candidature, or, in the event of both being dead, was domiciled and resident in Jamaica for at least five years prior to his or her death

Applicants must have been educated in Jamaica for at least five years between the ages of nine and twenty and meet either of the below criteria:
i. be aged 18-23 on 1 October 2023 (i.e. you must have been born after 1 October 1998 and before 2 October 2005); OR (for older candidates who completed their first undergraduate degree later than usual)
ii. be under the age of 27 on 1st October 2023 (i.e. have been born after 1 October 1996) AND you must also have completed your first undergraduate degree on or after 1 July 2022*.

The Rhodes Scholarship covers Oxford University course fees, as well as providing an annual stipend. For the 2022/23 academic year, the stipend is £18,180 per annum (£1,515 per month) from which Scholars pay all living expenses, including accommodation. Funding duration is dependent on the length of the course, e.g. PhD funding is available for 3 years.
