The Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Predoctoral Fellowship (Parent F31) funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supports promising predoctoral students to obtain individualized, mentored research training from outstanding faculty sponsors while conducting dissertation research in scientific health-related fields relevant to the missions of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers. The proposed mentored research training must reflect the candidate’s dissertation research project and is expected to clearly enhance the individual’s potential to develop into a productive, independent research scientist.

Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents. The host institution may be in the USA or abroad. The Award provides stipends, tuition and fees, and institutional allowance for up to 5 years. Applications follow the NIH standard application closing dates, i.e. April 8, August 8 and December 8.
