The Scientific Research Grants from the Olle Engkvists Stiftelse support diverse scientific research endeavors, with a focus on medicine, natural sciences, technology, and humanities. It particularly values curiosity-driven and high-risk research, as well as interdisciplinary projects.

Special priority areas for the foundation include research on the human brain, specifically female perspectives in medical research, botany, zoology, energy, environmental engineering, and various disciplines within the humanities.

Applicants must typically have a minimum of two years of documented research experience post-doctoral degree, and projects should be affiliated with Nordic universities.

There are no specific restrictions on grant amounts. Grants cover personnel costs, project-related expenses such as materials, equipment, analysis, operation, publication, travel, and conferences. Indirect costs are typically capped at 10% of scholarship or salary expenses. Projects should generally not exceed 4 years in duration, and researchers must have all necessary permissions in place before applying, including ethics approvals. Open access publishing of research results is required.
