Senior Research Fellowships (humanities | social sciences | USA | India)
The Senior Research Fellowships from the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) support scholars who specialize in South Asia to pursue further research in India and to establish formal affiliation with an Indian institution. Applicants must have completed their doctoral studies. Short-term awards are available for up to four months. Long-term awards are available for six to nine months.A small number of outstanding scholars will be awarded fellowships funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (Fellowship Programs at Independent Research Institutions).
The Fellowships provide:
Senior Long-term
- Maintenance stipend per month: Rs 86,250
- Research and travel per month: Rs 33,750
- Dollar supplement per month: $115
- Per dependent allowance per month:Rs 15,000
Senior Short-term
- Maintenance stipend per month: Rs 103,500
- Research and travel per month: Rs 33,750
- Dollar supplement per month$138
Fellows based in Bangalore, Chennai (Madras), Kolkata (Calcutta), Mumbai (Bombay) or New Delhi receive an additional 25 percent cost of living supplement for maintenance, dollar and dependent allowances.
