The Speech Science Research Grant, provided by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASH Foundation), supports new investigators to initiate new research or enhancing ongoing research endeavors. Funding can be allocated for diverse needs such as equipment, participants, research personnel, or travel related to research activities.

Eligibility:

  • The applicant should have obtained a Ph.D. or an equivalent research doctorate within the last five years (since 2019).
  • The research proposal should focus on speech science, although there are no limitations on the investigator’s field of degree. Preference will be given to topics aligning with Dr. Klatt’s broad interests, such as speech perception, synthesis, and acoustics, emphasizing an interdisciplinary research approach.
  • There are no constraints regarding prior or concurrent funding.
  • Proposals submitted to the 2024 Speech Science Research Grant competition cannot be simultaneously submitted to other 2024 ASH Foundation grant competitions. However, applicants remain eligible to submit proposals to other ASHFoundation grant competitions within the same year, provided they explore different topics.

This grant provides 10,000 USD for a year. Applications are due by April 17, 2024.
