The AGA–Ironwood Fellowship-to-Faculty Transition Award from the AGA Research Foundation facilitates the transition of postdoctoral or clinical fellows to independent research careers. The fellowship provides clinical or postdoctoral fellows seeking to protect time for clinical or translational research in preparation for careers as independent investigators in gastroenterology, hepatology, pancreatology or closely allied fields. Applicants must hold MD, PhD or equivalent degree and based in the USA, Canada or Mexico. Applicants must be members of AGA. Female investigators and underrepresented researchers are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Clinical fellows must be in the final year of fellowship training or those in the year following the end of their fellowship training at the time of application.
  • Postdoctoral fellows must have at least four years and fewer than six years of postdoctoral research at the time of application and be actively preparing to seek faculty positions before this award concludes.

The fellowship provides 130,000 USD over 2 years (no indirect costs).

This is an annual award and the next applications close on September 13, 2023.
