APF/Division 39 Grant (psychoanalysis worldwide)

The APF/Division 39 Grant from the American Psychological Foundation (APF) recognizes and promotes the contributions of psychoanalysis to psychology and to societal well-being more generally. Applications are open to researchers affiliated with nonprofit charitable, educational or scientific institutions, or governmental entities operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. Host institutions must be located in countries whereby the USA has diplomatic ties. In addition, applicants:

  • must have a demonstrated knowledge of psychoanalytic principles;
  • may be a practicing psychoanalytic therapist, but this is not a requirement;
  • demonstrates interest in communicating to the public the value of psychoanalytic principles and/or treatments.
  • must agree that, if awarded a grant, they will give a follow-up report to the Evaluation Committee on the use and impact of the grant.

The grant provides 10,000 USD (no indirect costs)

This is an annual grant and the next applications close on August 31, 2023.
