RESEARCH FUNDING

Beckman Young Investigator Program (USA | life science | chemistry)

Share

The Beckman Young Investigator Program is funded by the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation to support early-career faculty members in the life sciences and chemistry in the USA. Of particular interest are research projects that involve the invention of methods, instruments and materials that will open up new avenues of research in science. Projects proposed should be truly innovative, high-risk, and show promise for contributing to significant advances in chemistry and the life sciences. They should represent a departure from current research directions rather than an extension or expansion of existing programs. Applicants must be within the first four years of a tenure-track position, or an equivalent independent research appointment, at a United States academic or non-profit institution that conducts research in chemical and life sciences. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States prior to the BYI Interview (late March/ early April) to be eligible. The Foundation does not support clinical research, clinical trials, or single-target drug discovery projects. Individuals with strictly clinical appointments are not eligible to apply. The award provides up to 600,000 over 4 years (no indirect costs).

Applications open on June 5, 2023. Letters of intent are due on August 1, 2023. Invited full applications are due on January 16, 2024.

Full application due:
January 16, 2024
