The Eugene H. Blackstone Resident Surgical Investigator in AI and Data Science fellowship, provided by the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS), supports cardiothoracic surgery residents who have demonstrated an interest in data science, statistics, machine learning, or artificial intelligence as applied to cardiothoracic surgery.
Applicants should have a clearly defined research interest that leverages machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science, or statistical methodologies to advance the field of cardiothoracic surgery.
Applications are open to residents who are currently enrolled in an accredited training program in the United States or Canada and have completed at least two years of postgraduate training in a surgical discipline. The applicants must be engaged in Thoracic Surgical Oncology research in the lab of an established thoracic surgical investigator who is an active AATS member in good-standing and will serve as their mentor for the duration of the project.
The award provides 40,000 USD/year for up to 2 years (including 10% indirect costs).
