The Defense Merit Scholarship (DMS) from the MINDEF Scholarship Centre (MSC) supports Singaporean undergraduate and master students to pursue a degree in local universities or abroad in various fields for the duration of their studies. The aim is to prepare scholars for the challenges of civilian appointments in the organization or the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA). Applicants must:

  • Be Singapore citizens or permanent residents intending to take up citizenship
  • Have good GCE ‘A’ Level or International Baccalaureate results, Polytechnic Diploma (with Merit) or equivalent
  • Have good co-curricular activities (CCA) records

The scholarship provides:

  • Full tuition fees and other approved academic charges
  • Maintenance and other allowances, e.g. books, clothing, computer
  • Return airfare
  • One-time sponsorship for summer exchange programs
  • Sponsorship for up to 4 years of studies, inclusive of Master’s if applicable

Applicants must serve the bond of 6 years for overseas studies and 4 years for local studies after graduation.

The deadline for female applicants closes on August 31, 2024.

The Application Window for male applicants opens on September 1, 2024, and closes on April 30, 2025.
