The F. Griffith Pearson Fellowship, sponsored by the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS), provides an educational opportunity for recently graduated general thoracic surgeons to undertake a focused period of study lasting six to eight weeks at a host institution in North America.


  • Completion of formal training in general surgery and thoracic surgery prior to the fellowship, with thoracic surgery as the main specialty.
  • Holding an academic or hospital appointment.
  • Being within the first three years after completing thoracic training.

The fellowship provides 9,000 USD to cover living expenses during the training period.

The application period begins on April 1, 2024, and closes on July 1, 2024.
