General Research Grants: Scholarships (humanities worldwide)

The General Research Grants: Scholarships from the Gerda Henkel Foundation provide research funding for humanities researchers worldwide with a particular focus on the following subject areas:

  • Archaeology
  • History of Art
  • Historical Islamic Studies
  • History
  • History of Science
  • History of Law
  • Prehistory and Early History

The applicant must hold a PhD. For postdoc applicants, the PhD must be awarded not more than 10 years prior to the application and the PhD thesis must already be published. Postdocs applying for this funding are funded at 2,300 EUR/month. For established researchers, this funding is at 3,100 EUR/month. Additional funding is provided for successful applicants with children. Application for grants of less than 25,000 EUR may be made at any time.

The next application closing date is May 17, 2023.
