The Hanna H. Gray Fellows Program is funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) and supports diversity in the life sciences and biomedical research. Applicants must be from underrepresented groups in the life sciences. Applicants may be working in the biomedical and life sciences, including plant biology, evolutionary biology, biophysics, chemical biology, biomedical engineering, and computational biology. Applicants must have completed their doctoral studies (PhD, MD or equivalent) by the start of the grant term and not have more than 18 months of postdoctoral research experience by the application date. Applicants who are US citizens must have their degree from a US or International research institution. Non-US citizen applicants must have their degrees from a US research institution. The applicant must have been accepted for a postdoctoral position at a US research institution at the time of the application due date. The Fellowship provides 70,000 USD salary + 20,000 USD research expenses for 2-4 years. Applicants are able to transition to the faculty phase of the program if they are able to obtain a tenure-track faculty position at a US research institution. Applications close on December 7, 2022.
