HFG Distinguished Scholar Awards (natural & social science worldwide)

The Distinguished Scholar Awards from the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation (HFG) recognize researchers worldwide contributing to our understanding of violence, including but not limited to:

  • War
  • Crime
  • Terrorism
  • Family and intimate-partner relationships
  • Climate instability and natural resource competition
  • Racial, ethnic, and religious conflict
  • Political extremism and nationalism

While most recipients have advanced degrees including PhD, MD, or JD, there are no formal degree requirements for the award. The funding ranges from 15,000 to 45,000 USD per year over a 1-2 year(s) period. This is an annual award and the next applications open on May 1, 2022, and close on August 1, 2022.
