The L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science (Sub-Saharan Africa) Program supports early career women researchers from sub-Saharan Africa (including South Africa) who either work in research or are enrolled in a university in one of the 48 countries of sub-Saharan Africa (not including South Africa). The annual Award recognizes 15 PhD students and 5 postdoctoral candidates working in the following fields: life and environmental sciences, physical sciences, engineering, mathematics, computer and information sciences. The Award provides 10,000 EUR for PhD students and 15,000 EUR for the postdoctoral awardees. The funding is intended for the researchers themselves and must be spent on the promotion of research in their country, or professional expenses including computer or advance equipment (not for basic laboratory), travel for collaboration, conference attendance, funding for babysitters to attend a conference or purchase of scientific articles.
This year’s applications close on March 24, 2023.
