The MTC Individual Research Grants (IRG) from the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR) in Singapore support novel and fresh R&D ideas in Singapore. Applicants may be either single Principal Investigators (PIs) or small PI teams. PI teams may be formed between different institutions.

The MTC Young Individual Research Grants (YIRG) is a sub-category of grants that aims at grooming young researchers to conduct independent research. Young Researcher is defined as a researcher with up to 7 years of post-doctoral experience.

Proposals on any research areas that fall under the Manufacturing, Trade and Connectivity (MTC) Domain Focus Areas are eligible.

This funding call provides 2 categories of funding for up to 3 years:

  • IRG: funding up to 1.2M SGD (inclusive of 30% indirect cost)
  • YIRG: funding up to 325,000 SGD (inclusive of 30% indirect cost)
