The Singapore-Germany International Collaboration on Circular Economy call for proposals from the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in Singapore and the Commonwealth Scientific and and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in Germany aims to foster research collaboration between the two countries in the field of ‘Circular Economy’. The grant call is both competitive and multi-disciplinary in nature and is aimed at encouraging engagements between the Singapore and German research community and industry collaborators. Key topics include:

  • Polymer design and recycling
  • Valorisation of biogenic waste
  • Waste as resource

Applicants must propose a joint research project that includes at least one Singapore-based and one Germany-based public sector researcher, with possible partnerships with one Singapore-based and/or one Germany-based industry collaborator. The Germany-based public sector researcher must also concurrently submit the joint proposal to BMBF.

For Singapore-based applicants, eligible public sector research performers include Institutes of Higher Learning (including universities and polytechnics), A*STAR Research Institutes, and non-defence related public sector agencies (e.g., Ministries, Statutory Boards).

Each successful project may receive up to 800,000 SGD (inclusive of overheads) for Singapore-based applicants and 560,000 EUR for Germany-based applicants. Funding is provided for projects of up to 36 months.

Applications must be submitted by July 18, 2024.
