The Neurosciences and mental health new investigator from the Medical Research Council (MRC) supports early-career researchers in neuroscience taking the next steps to becoming an independent principal investigator. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree and based at a UK research institution. There is no limit to the funding budget, projects are typically under 1 million GBP and the MRC funds 80% of the full economic cost. The grant covers up to 50% of the recipient’s salary. Funding is available for 3 years. This is an ongoing scheme. Application rounds close every January, May and September. The next applications close on May 24, 2023.
