The Safe Haven Fellowship from the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Science (NIAS) offers temporary relocation and support to scholars, artists, writers, and journalists facing conflict-related restrictions on their work. This extended call specifically targets individuals affected by the war in Gaza.


  • Minimum three years of academic experience post-PhD
  • Project must align with humanities and/or social sciences

This fellowship provides 2,500 EUR per month for 5 months. Fellows are also provided with an office, research facilities, communal lunch, participation in the NIAS community and commuting travel expenses or subsidized accommodation in Amsterdam.

Applications are due on May 21, 2024, 12:00 PM CET.
