The Scientific Software Research Faculty Award from the Simons Foundation supports new research professor positions in existing academic departments (the “host institutions”) to be filled by scientific software-focused researchers. The SSRF Award supports researchers who have a strong track record of leadership in scientific software development. Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) in mathematics, astronomy or theoretical physics and have played a leading role in developing or maintaining scientific software in one or more of these fields. Awards may be hosted at any public or private Ph.D.-granting institution in the United States. The SSRF Fellowship provides up to 50 percent of salary support plus 50,000 USD in research expenses per year for 5 years, including 20% indirect costs.
Letters of intent are due on December 8, 2023 and full applications are due on February 28, 2025.
