The Solar Radiation Management funding from the  Simons Foundation supports international collaborative research designed to fill fundamental scientific knowledge gaps relevant to Solar Radiation Management. SRM is an emerging collection of approaches, including stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI), marine cloud brightening (MCB) and cirrus cloud thinning (CCT), designed to modify the Earth’s radiative balance and cool the planet. The foundation strongly encourages applications from scientists in the global south and from investigators who may not have worked in SRM but have expertise that could bring new perspectives and skills to this field. Applications are open to researchers worldwide.

The award provides up to 500,000 USD per year (including 20% indirect costs) for up to 3 years.

Letters of intent are due September 30, 2024. Full invited applications are due February 27, 2025.
