The 2025 Asia Foundation Development Fellows program from the Asia Foundation supports highly talented researchers from the Asia-Pacific region to enhance their leadership skills, Asian development knowledge, professional networks, and international exposure. The program’s focus this year is on Climate Action.
Applicants must be resident nationals or citizens of the Asia-Pacific region and under the age of 40. Also, be able to secure a visa for travel to the United States. Candidates must have a career or vocation focused on addressing climate change and a commitment to achieving a sustainable future. The program aims to develop leadership skills and includes a multidisciplinary cohort. Fellows can come from various professional backgrounds, such as environmental sciences, sustainability, climate and conservation, community engagement, activism, environmental policy and law, journalism, conflict and fragility, and women’s rights. Any professional background is acceptable if the candidate’s work intersects with climate action.
The grant provides research funding of up to 5,000 USD for a personalized year-long work plan involving enrollment in specialized training programs or short courses, language study, travel to attend key regional forums or workshops, or engagement in other enrichment activities.
