The Clinician Innovator Award Senior Investigator (CIA-SI) from the National Medical Research Council (NMRC) of Singapore provides salary and funding support to Singaporean senior clinician researchers to bring their ideas to the next level, towards the commercialization end-point. The aim is to support clinicians with healthcare innovation ideas in disease diagnosis, medical treatment, and/or improvement of human health and quality of life. Applicant should be a senior clinician innovator who has a demonstrated track record in healthcare innovations. Project must be clinically significant and commercially viable, and the award recipient is expected to mentor junior clinician innovators/scientists.
Applications in all research areas are invited. Applicants focusing on translation of research and innovations into healthcare in the following strategic areas (covering both expertise in technology as well as use case areas) will be prioritized:

  1. Medical Technology (MedTech), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science and Digital Health
  2. Epidemiology, Population Health and Implementation Science
  3. Precision Medicine
  4. Healthy and Meaningful Longevity
  5. Family Medicine and Primary Care

Applicants are encouraged to collaborate with AI, Data Science and/or Technology talent where possible, and the necessary budget to engage them can be incorporated into the grant applications where needed/applicable.

The award provides up to 500,000 SGD including up to 30% indirect costs over 2 years. Also, up to 0.3 FTE salary support for protected time in research. There is no limit to the number of renewals for this category.
