Joint Call launch: Consequences of Changing Marine Lightscapes (Europe)

The Joint Call launch: Consequences of Changing Marine Lightscapes program from the JPI Oceans aims to understand and address the impact of changing marine light environments on marine ecosystems, biodiversity, and ecosystem functioning.

The participating countries are:

  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Ireland
  • Malta
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • United Kingdom

Proposals should address one or more of the following consequences of changing marine lightscapes:  

  • Biodiversity, biogeography, and biogeochemistry, including primary production
  • Photobiology and ecophysiology, including light-induced seasonal timing of organismal behaviour
  • Ecosystem functioning and food web architecture, and ecosystem services including sustainable fisheries 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Research partners and industry partners from at least two participating countries must be involved.
  • Applicants must be eligible for funding from their national funding partner.
  • The project duration is a maximum of three years.

This grant supports a budget of a maximum of 400,000 EUR per year per project for up to three years.
