The Open Fund Young Individual Research Grant (OFYIRG) from the Ministry Of Health and the National Medical Research Council (NMRC) of Singapore supports early-career researchers in the role of Principal Investigator. The grant supports the conduct of research proposals in basic, translational and clinical research that are relevant to human health and potential, including research that looks at the causes, consequences, diagnosis and treatment of human diseases.
Applicants must have completed their PhD or MBBS/MD/BDS within the past 7 years and past 10 years respectively, whichever date is later. The grant is open to applications in all research areas. However, these are Singapore’s national priorities for research:

  • Cancers and neoplasms
  • Cardiovascular
  • Eye
  • Infection
  • Mental health
  • Metabolic and endocrine
  • Neurological

The maximum grant amount is 325,000 SGD (inclusive of up to 30% indirect costs) for up to 3 years. The grant has two calls per year, in January and in July.
