The Program Award from the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) recognizes residency programs that have earned national acclaim for their excellence in training residents, consistently providing a positive and enriching learning environment. By recognizing these programs and their achievements, they can serve as models of sustained excellence, achievement, and innovation in residency training. The selected programs should demonstrate a proven track record of:

  • Providing an exceptional practice setting conducive to residency training and learning.
  • Effectively instructing pharmacy residents.
  • Employing distinctive and innovative teaching methods and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Positively impacting the careers of residency graduates.
  • Contributing to the mission of the pharmacy department.
  • Implementing a well-organized process for the development of residency preceptors.
  • Maintaining ASHP residency accreditation.

Recipient organizations are expected to participate in subsequent outreach and educational efforts to disseminate their achievements.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Accredited residency program by ASHP (PGY1 / PGY2).
  • Only one institution, whether with or without multiple residency programs (PGY1 or PGY2), may win the award once every 5 years.
  • An institution can only submit one application for the Program Award category per year.

Applications close on June 3, 2024.
