The Student Research Grant in Early Childhood Language Development, provided by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASH Foundation), offers support to master’s and doctoral students, whether in research or clinical programs, who are focusing on children at the preschool or earliest school developmental level.


  1. Students must be master’s or doctoral (research or clinical) degree students enrolled in, or accepted for, graduate study in speech-language pathology or speech-language science at an academic program in the United States.
  2. Enrollment for the entire academic year on a full-time basis is required.
  3. Master’s degree candidates must attend a program accredited by, or in candidacy status from, the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  4. Proposed research should focus on early childhood language development, with preference given to studies involving populations demonstrating early verbal language production and usage. Studies may include children with hearing impairment if relevant to the research focus.

This award provides a budget of 2000 USD per project. Applications are due by April 17, 2024.
