The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Arthritis Foundation Science Department from the Arthritis Foundation promotes diversity in the rheumatology workforce. The overall aim of the funding program is to increase the overall number of underrepresented in medicine (URiM) individuals, including rheumatology fellows and allied health professionals (AHP). It is a two-phase program, the first phase of the proposed work is intended to focus on building infrastructure, relationships, and processes, while the second phase (to be funded later) is intended to focus on delivering a more diversified pipeline of URiM fellows and/or AHPs to the rheumatology workforce. Applications that accelerate URiM fellows/AHPs recruitment in Phase 1 are highly
encouraged and will be viewed favorably. Applications are open to higher education institutions in the USA. Applicants may apply for up to 425,000 USD (including 8% indirect costs, with the possibility of up to 15% indirect costs) over 2 years.
Letters of intent are due on April 24, 2023.
Full invited applications close on May 31, 2023.
